🎣 The Campanu is much more than just the first salmon of the year in the Sella River: it’s the symbol marking the start of the fishing season in Asturias.
🏞️ This age-old tradition brings together anglers and river lovers in search of the most coveted salmon—the first to bite after the winter break.
📍 The Campanu can be caught in any of the Sella’s fishing beats, such as El Brezo, Remolina, or El Capitán, and is publicly auctioned in a ceremony attended by hundreds of people.
💶 Some Campanus have fetched prices over €10,000 at auction, making it a true gastronomic and cultural treasure.
📅 Each year it’s caught between April and May, depending on when the season officially opens.
