10th Descent of the Sella
A significant controversy arose over where to place the finish line: Ribadesella or Llovio?. The residents of Llovio even protested in Oviedo, distributing leaflets claiming the finish would be in their town.
Confusion grew as Llovio argued that the Fluvial Train had difficulty accessing the Ribadesella dock. Several tests were conducted to check access and maneuverability—all of which proved satisfactory.
Ultimately, it was the mayor who made the final decision, supporting Ribadesella as the official finish line.
Another highlight of 1947 was the official introduction of team colors as identifying symbols:
-
🔴 Ribadesella: Red
-
⚪️ Infiesto: White
-
🟩 Gijón: Green
-
🔵 Arriondas: Blue
-
🔴⚪️ Santander: Red and White
-
⚫️🔴 Bilbao: Black and Red
-
🟨 Madrid: Yellow
In sporting results, Manuel González and Jesús Villar from Ribadesella won with their canoe “Sta. Marina”, finishing in 2 hours, 2 minutes, and 25 seconds.
