📝 Section Description:
The Picu La Vieya stretch, located at km 6.2 of the Sella River, is one of the most technical and demanding sections for canoe or kayak navigation.
The rapid at this point pushes directly toward a stone wall, requiring an immediate turn upon arrival—especially to avoid capsizing.
The counter-currents generated in this curve make it essential to maintain control of the boat at all times.
The area gets its name from the visible peak on the right bank, “Picu La Vieya,” an easily recognizable natural landmark located at the entrance to the village of Margolles.
For anglers, this stretch offers many opportunities. Access is convenient thanks to marked paths on both banks, and it combines fast-flowing sections with deep, calm pools rich in trout.
