L’Allume de piragües is the newest of the events celebrated around the International Sella Descent, and in a short time it has become an important tradition thanks to the work of the local association Selleros.
Around midnight on “Piraguas Friday,” locals from Parres parade toward the river carrying floating candles that they have decorated themselves in memory of the Selleros who have passed away. After the proclamation, the candles drift downstream, lighting up the night and the water… the Sella fills with emotion and memories…
