17th Descent of the Sella
All participants had already adopted the technological innovations introduced in the previous edition, which raised the price of canoes to around 3000 pesetas (approximately 18 euros) at the time.
The event continued to grow in international reputation, with two new countries joining: England and Switzerland. A total of 72 paddlers in 45 boats took part, consolidating the Sella’s prestige and the anticipation it generated among foreign athletes, who were increasingly familiar with its course and traditions.
This edition had a distinctly international flavor, as the top three places were taken entirely by foreign paddlers:
-
Winners: Belgians Van der Moore and Broeckmeyer, with a time of 1 hour, 41 minutes, and 11 seconds.
-
Second: French paddlers Jacques and André Combret, with 1 hour, 42 minutes, and 20 seconds.
-
Third: Italians Luciano Albera and Marcelo Tilli, with 1 hour, 44 minutes, and 45 seconds.
