81st Descent of the Sella
The 81st International Descent of the Sella
Around 1,300 paddlers took part, setting a record for both boats (860) and countries represented (23) in the most “Olympic” edition yet, with quadruple Olympic medalist Saúl Craviotto delivering the opening speech and competing in K-2 alongside his father.
An International Descent of the Sella at the highest competitive level, where more than an hour of paddling is often decided on foot. At Isla de la Boticaria, the lead was still up for grabs. The strategy of Walter Bouzán and Álvaro Fernández Fiuza proved decisive during the portage section (just as Julio Martínez had once used the same tactic to secure victory). In this way, they wrote a new golden chapter in Sella history with their eighth consecutive win.
In K1, the victory went to Alberto Plaza from Cangas de Onís.
