The origins of the fishing in the Sella went back to the Prehistory, in her, the first settlers of the region utilized simple harpoons and javelins created with bones of animal.

During the Middle Ages, the Monastery of Villanueva, the Houses of Nevares, Coviella, Estrada and the Palace of Faes were the "custodians" of the salmon enclosures. Itself not salmon without the permission of some of them were captured, each one had its territory, thus for example the House of Faes controlled all the salmon wells between Arriondas and Triongo.
