The origins of the fishing in the Sella went back to the Prehistory, in her, the first settlers of the region utilized simple harpoons and javelins created with bones of animal.

During the Middle Ages, the Monastery of Villanueva, the Houses of Nevares, Coviella, Estrada and the Palace of Faes were the "custodians" of the salmon enclosures.
