The origins of the fishing in the
Sella went back to the Prehistory, in her, the
first settlers of the region utilized simple harpoons
and javelins created with bones of animal.
During the Middle Ages, the Monastery
of Villanueva, the Houses of Nevares, Coviella, Estrada
and the Palace of Faes were the "custodians" of the
salmon enclosures. Itself not salmon without the
permission of some of them were captured, each one had
its territory, thus for example the House of Faes
controlled all the salmon wells between Arriondas and
Triongo.
The captures were abundant during
that epoca, according to is counted, the stonecutters of
Covadonga or the servants of them cited custodians, they
required not to have that to eat daily salmon.
In the 20th century manages to
extinguish itself the exclusive privileges of the
exploitation of the river.
